Hello, my lovelies! Happy Valentine’s Day! It’s been so much fun seeing my social media feeds fill up with shades of pink and red over the last several days. Y’all are certainly bringing the love this year! 🙂
I’ll be totally honest…Valentine’s Day has not always been my favorite holiday. No particular reason, but others just top the list for me. Maybe it’s because I feel a little more guilty eating chocolate when spring is right around the corner, or because I was a late bloomer when it came to dating and had many “girls night out” on February 14th.
But, I’ve come to realize with age, that Valentine’s Day should be all about spreading love and well-wishes to everyone. WE NEED MORE LOVE IN THIS WORLD, and it doesn’t have to be a romantic love. It can be about paying a stranger a compliment, loving yourself and treating yoself to a box of chocolates and a bottle of wine, or telling your best friend how much s/he means to you. So, maybe I’ve transitioned from feeling “EH” about the holiday to thinking it should be Valentine’s Day every day. That’s growth, right?
So,
to my fellow women supporting the “Time’s Up” and “Me Too” movement;
to the #mombosses out there who are doing everything they can to support their family and KILL IT everyday;
to the men and women around the world searching for their dream job, partner, or purpose in life;
to the struggling artists who are making their voices heard through a variety of mediums;
to the marginalized groups who need to be pulled out from the shadows of the margins;
to Mother Nature’s creatures who need some extra affection and attention;
Would you like to save this?
to the kids and teens who have ever faced a bully;
to the prom kings and queens who are also going to find a cure for cancer one day;
to the young girl who looks in the mirror and doesn’t see how GORGEOUS she is;
to the young man who breaks the mold by breaking stereotypes;
to everyone;
I send you my love. <3
And, just in case you need something more tangible to celebrate Cupid’s holiday, here’s an awesome list of restaurant deals from People. Because when all else fails, you can’t go wrong with some good eats.
What are you doing for Valentine’s Day this year?
Until next time, I hope you enjoy your #hearthhealthhappiness and Valentine’s Day!
