Balsamic Basil Vinaigrette

A zesty, vibrant balsamic basil vinaigrette dressing is the perfect way to use your abundance of basil this summer! Sweetness from balsamic vinegar and maple syrup pairs beautifully with the spicy flavors of basil, mustard, and garlic for a delicious homemade salad dressing!

Ingredients
  

  • ¾ cups basil leaves 23g, include stems
  • ¼ cup balsamic vinegar 57g
  • ¼ cup extra virgin olive oil 48g
  • 2 cloves garlic 7g, peeled, ends removed
  • 2 teaspoon Dijon mustard 12g
  • 1 tsp pure maple syrup 5g, optional
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt 3g
  • ¼ tsp black pepper

Equipment

  • 1 small blender I use a small blender for this recipe, a food processor will work as well
  • measuring cups and spoons

Method
 

  1. Add all ingredients to the bowl of your blender and secure lid before adding to the blender base.
    ¾ cups basil leaves, ¼ cup balsamic vinegar, ¼ cup extra virgin olive oil, 2 cloves garlic, 2 teaspoon Dijon mustard, 1 teaspoon pure maple syrup, ½ teaspoon kosher salt, ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  2. Blend on high speed for 30 seconds to one minute, or until you reach the desired consistency. Taste and add seasonings as desired.

Notes

If using a food processor, blend all ingredients except olive oil and basil leaves. Once blended, slowly add the olive oil and finish with blending in the basil leaves and stems. 
For those without a blender or food processor, finely mince ingredients and whisk together with liquid ingredients for a less "creamy" version.
